The following information outlines the services and benefits School Jobs Now provides to all SJN site visitors for absolutely NO COST.
Job Seeker Services
School Jobs Now provides access via the SJN website to services, which require no registration or login, while other areas within the website require job seekers to register via a quick and confidential process. The services that require registration are directed towards providing employers additional information (applications, resumes, certifications, credentials, etc.) about the candidate. Registration is required to ensure searchable information, which is always available to subscribing employers, is secure and confidential.
Services Available without Registering:
The following services are available to job seekers via SJN without registration:
- Browse Jobs
Quickly and easily browse job opportunities listed by regions and/or states.
- Search Jobs
Locate opportunities that match the experience, qualifications, and interests of the job seeker.
- Research Employers
Every employer who posts to the SJN provides an information profile about their school and/or district(s), which provides the job seeker valuable information about the employer. The profile also contains links back to the employer's own web page, so further research can be conducted by the job seeker. In many cases, additional information such as information on the community, who to contact and statistical profile is also included in the profile and/or on the employer’s web page.
- Browse Career & Other Professional Resources
Via School Jobs Now's Resource Centre, users can find valuable resume and interview tips, salary information, teacher registration (forms?) and other useful resources.
- Network with Colleagues
A widely distributed group of people participates in online discussions through the SJN’s site, exchanging information, experiences, and questions that assist the job seeker in a variety of ways, including build up and/or maintaining informal working relationships.
Registered Services:
The following services are accessible to individuals registered with SJN. There is absolutely NO COST register or use the following services:
- Apply to Jobs
Once registered job seekers can then access the details on how to apply to jobs posted, e.g. required documentation, where/how to submit documentation, qualifications needed to apply
- Resume Upload
Job Seekers can upload their own resume documents or fill out SJN's form resume. This resume will then be made available to subscribing employers to search and view.
- Educator E-Portfolio
In order to create a better picture of a job seeker's credentials, registered applicants can create a personal electronic portfolio, which is also searchable by employers. The portfolio is automatically attached to any jobs to which the candidate applies to online.
- Cover Letter Upload
To ensure registered job seekers can submit a complete application package to employers; they can upload their own cover letter(s) to attach to any application via SJN's Apply Online function.
- Other Document Upload
Registered applicants can provide employers additional information/documentation by uploading up to 10 required or supporting documents to their application. Documentation frequently uploaded include scanned copy of a job seeker's registration documents, transcripts, university degrees, reference letters, work study reports, criminal records checks, etc ...
- JobBot Notification
By registering, job seekers can create a "jobbot". A jobbot is an email notification system whereby job seekers can select the type of job they are looking for and when new jobs that meet the selected criteria are added to SJN's database, job seekers will receive an email listing the new jobs.
- Bookmark Employers
Job seekers can save an employer's profile and job opportunities with a simple click. Once saved, a job seeker can regularly monitor any new jobs posted by that school, district, or state.
- E-Newsletters & Publications
Upon registering with SJN, job seekers can sign-up for informative electronic newsletters. These publications provide valuable information on SJN's services, resources, and employment opportunities available on SJN’s website. These are opt-in newsletters.
